Ashmore Reef 2017

Kimberley Birdwatching will be running the successful annual Pelagic Trip from Broome to Ashmore Reef and return in early November 2016. As we did last year, we will be visiting Browse Island but instead of going to Adele Island, we will have an extra day at Ashmore.

The dates will be from the 2nd to the 10th of November 2016.  The trip will be led by Rohan Clarke, Mike Carter and George Swann.

The trip will be over 9 days departing Broome on Wednesday the 2nd of November at approximately 06:00 Hours and will return to Broome during the afternoon of Thursday the 10th of November. The cost will be AUD$5,950.00 per person inclusive of GST. This cost covers all meals and activities whilst at sea but not liquor and soft drinks.

When you have booked and paid a deposit you will be sent an itinerary, Bird List, and a list of previous trip sightings since 2002.

Reef Prince

The vessel is a 38 m catamaran purpose built charter vessel with a main deck and a mid-deck.

The Main deck has 6 interior double cabins, 4 with ensuites and 2 without and 4 share bunk style cabins with windows. Cabins on this deck have the use of 9 shared ablutions nearby.

On the Mid Deck there are 10 cabins. Eight are external cabins with large windows two of which have double berths Two are internal (no windows) en-suited double bunks and 4 are deluxe en-suited doubles. There are 4 ablutions on this level

All the cabins are air-conditioned and some people will be required to share. We have enclosed a cabin configuration. A fair and equitable cabin assignment (first to book get preference on cabins) will be arranged by the Charter operator when taking the booking.  Obviously couples will take preference on double cabins.

People can bring their own drinks but soft drinks and a licensed bar is available.  Towels, sheets and bedding are provided. The boat is air-conditioned.

If you would like to book a berth on this trip in 2016 the charter operator will require a 20% deposit (AUD$1190.00) to secure your place on board.  A minimum of 15 bookings is required to confirm the charter and a maximum of 34 is available.

The deposit will be held by the Charter operator until 60 days prior to departure date i.e. 3rd September 2016. On this date the final balance (80%) will be required by the Charter Operator to confirm your Berth. If you have difficulties meeting these payments for whatever reason please communicate with Kimberley Birdwatching first.

We strongly advise passengers to take out travel insurance in case of cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, illness etc. Medical evacuation insurance is also essential.

You will be required to bring your Passport if you have one due to the unlikely situation where we are required to seek shelter in an Indonesian Port

Your flight to and from Broome and accommodation in Broome is not included in this price and you have to make your own arrangements whilst in Broome. The Charter operator will arrange pick-up and drop-off from the boat to your accommodation so you will need to advise where you are staying while in Broome.

Kimberley Birdwatching can also offer tours to Roebuck Bay and Roebuck Plains prior to and after the trip if you require.  Please contact us for enquiries.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information, and we hope you will be able to join this expedition in November 2016.

Yours sincerely,

George Swann
